Giving Back

Discovery Summer is committed to sharing its success in supporting educational projects around the globe. Here are some of the projects to date:

Sierra Leone

Discovery Summer has funded the building of a Primary and a Junior High School for 1000+ children in Freetown, Sierra Leone in conjunction with ACTIONAID. Rising Academies are now supporting further educational development in the schools.

Lebanon

In May 2020, in conjunction with Alsama, Discovery Summer launched a pro bono online English programme for 200 Syrian refugee children in three camps in Lebanon.

Ukraine

Discovery Summer was thrilled to offer full residential scholarships to Ukrainian teenagers who travelled to England in summer 2023. These teenagers have been living under extremely difficult conditions in their home country. The remark they made which resonates with us still is how wonderful it was to sleep in silence throughout the night.

Sudan

We were delighted to welcome a family of four Sudanese refugees who joined us this summer. They are now living in London, in very basic accommodation provided by the UK government. We gave them a 'holiday' on a beautiful residential campus in the countryside, where they could for a short time forget the troubles in their home country. They found great joy being amongst new international friends, and got totally involved in all the laughter and fun of a residential summer school.
