WHAT DO STUDENT HOSTS DO?
Student Hosts are a vital part of the course. Our international students come to improve their English, learn new skills, make lots of new friends from all around the world
- and meet British people of their own age. This is why our Student Hosts are so important.
Student Hosts:
- Attend English lessons to help the international students in classes and project work
- Join conversation clubs or spoken exam preparation classes to help the international students to talk more
- Enjoy sports, activities, evening entertainments and excursions with the international students
- Share boarding school life, possibly sleeping in the same bedroom as the international students
- Introduce international friends to British culture and traditions.
- Wear blue T-shirts to be easily recognised
WHAT MAKES A GOOD STUDENT HOST?
We are looking for Student Hosts with a variety of interests and abilities.
Student hosts need to have:
- Enthusiasm and confidence
- A sense of responsibility
- A confident, friendly and outgoing personality
- A willingness to take part in all aspects of the course
- Adaptability - especially to living away from home, maybe for the first time
- An open attitude to learning about people from other countries.
We expect all our Student Hosts to:
- Follow the rules!
- Mix with the international students, help them, talk to them and listen to them as much as possible; (We don't expect you to spend your time with the other Student Hosts. This is really important.)
- Help staff when asked
WHAT WE OFFER
A scholarship place on one of our fantastic courses - with the opportunity to make new friends from around the world. Residential scholarships are usually for 1 or 2 weeks and include free meals and accommodation in the same boarding house as the international students.
At some centres we have a few places for day Student Hosts; in this case you would be on-site from breakfast until the evening.
